Every Friday, Fandor’s curators serve up a newly available film worthy of special attention. This week’s Featured Release is the short film The Black Balloon directed by Benny and Josh Safdie.

“In the Safdie Bros. universe, outright fantasy collides with urban docu-realism to capture the magical energy and spirit that gives New York City its timelessly unique heartbeat.” – Michael Tully, Hammer to Nail

The Safdie brother’s Sundance award-winning short The Black Balloon makes its exclusive debut today on Fandor. This whimsical, modern day fantasy traces the plight of a lone black balloon after it’s accidentally released in New York City. As it floats aimlessly through the skies above the metropolis, the black balloon bears witness to the lives of the diverse city dwellers below. Click here to watch a preview or to view the entire movie.
