Every Friday, Fandor’s curators serve up a newly available film worthy of special attention. This week’s Featured Release is 3 Businessmen directed by Alex Cox.
“…it makes something more familiar out of the mythical, and eases its viewers slowly, comfortably toward an encounter with the divine, pulling the heavens closer to the earth with nothing more than a camera, city sidewalks, and a few cheap suits. It’s a hell of a trick.” – Brendan Boyle, PopMatters
In this cult comedy from Alex Cox (Repo Man, Sid and Nancy) two businessmen, Benny and Frank, meet at a Liverpool hotel and embark on a metaphysical restaurant crawl in search of dinner. Over the course of the night, they inexplicably (in typical Cox fashion) travel all over the world, trekking through five different countries and eventually encountering the titular third businessman. Chock full of philosophical discussions and absurdist humor, 3 Businessmen is a clever, surprising little film that will hold your attention from beginning to end.
