Every Friday, Fandor’s curators serve up a newly available film worthy of special attention. This week’s Featured Release is Five Dolls for an August Moon directed by Mario Bava.

“Truly a film entirely all its own, it’s a film that genre hounds will jive perfectly with, and Bava fans will find more than enough to dig deep into.” — Joshua Brunsting, Criterion Cast

A flashy riff on Agatha Christie’s Ten Little IndiansMario Bava’s “deliriously mod” giallo murder mystery Five Dolls for an August Moon is now available on Fandor, just in time for Halloween. Not so much a horror film as a sadistic whodunit, the film is saturated with ’60s swing and boasts all the stylistic panache that made Bava famous. You can watch a preview scene or view Five Dolls for an August Moon in its entirety here.
