Former Facebook Executive Chris Kelly Takes Reins Of Fandor

Chris Kelly, formerFacebookGeneralCounselandChiefPrivacyofficer, issteppinginasinterim CEO. of Fandor.

This past year has been one of tremendous growth: We have doubled our subscribers, improved our technology and given our community a platform to share their own curated Movie Lists. We’ve partnered with film festivals and filmmakers in two exciting new initiatives, and will soon launch a third initiative with universities. And of course, at Fandor we are always expanding on our highly curated library! From an extensive collection of classic Werner Herzog films to weekly picks from The Criterion Collection, day and date SVOD releases like Burning Bush, the debut of our first episodic series Li’l Quinquin (also a day and date release) and many, many more, we’ve been working hard to fill our members’ queues with amazing movies.

As we move forward to build on the tremendous foundation laid this past year, Chairman of the Board and Fandor investor Chris Kelly, former Facebook General Counsel and Chief Privacy officer, will step in to helm this exciting next phase as Ted Hope returns to his true passion: producing. Kelly is enthusiastic about the transition and all that is yet to come for Fandor:

Fandor is keenly situated now for real growth; Ted and the Fandor team have positioned us very well for continued expansion in 2015…We will be partnering with leading technology companies and content providers, and unveiling new proprietary offerings of our own. I am very excited to
help steer the company at this critical time.”

Kelly joined Facebook in 2005 as one of the first senior employees, and at various times served the company as General Counsel, Vice President of Corporate Development, Chief Privacy Officer, and Head of Global Public Policy. He left in 2009 to pursue the Democratic nomination for Attorney General of California. In 2010, he launched Kelly Investments, a family office pursuing transformational investments in technology, media, and finance. Fandor is one of the fund’s earliest companies. Kelly also serves as co-owner of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings and as the National Chair of the New Leaders Council, a progressive leadership training organization for millennials interested in public service.
