Tim Maloney

Tim Maloney is an American filmmaker and animator who has made films for the band Negativland, the Walt Disney Company, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. While at Disney TVA, he was the director of the popular segment Mrs. Munger's Class which was featured on ABC's One Saturday Morning program. In 2000, while he was working at Disney TV Animation, he used their equipment to make a video for Gimme the Mermaid, a track from Negativland's CD and Book project, Fair Use: The Story of the Letter U and the Numeral 2. This was especially ironic, as it was the same building in which the Little Mermaid TV show had been made. Later in the same year, he was the coordinator of the Droplift Project, which involved a compilation CD made with unlicensed samples of copyrighted sources by various artists. These were taken by Droplift operatives to chain music stores and left in the bins, inserted alphabetically under "D." He is also the creator of Cat-Head Theatre, which is included in the DVD compilation of animated short films, God Hates Cartoons. He is a producer for the company that released that DVD, Bright Red Rocket.
