I really, really enjoyed this! It is a great escape! I always enjoy learning about other people and lifestyles. You watch this and all you can think is, Wow! Amazingly strong and preserving people existing in the harshest climates and terrain. Kind of makes you ache for a simpler life, until you realize you are in a warm house, sipping hot tea, by the fire....
Absolutely fantastic. A must watch if you enjoyed Sweetgrass.
This is a fantastic document of an extraordinarily difficult migration. It was a brutal experience for all participants, animal or human. The footage of the final two obstacles, the last river crossing and the mountain peak, is simultaneously sublime and frightening.
A little research on the Internet about the Bakhtiari indicates that the kind of migration captured in the film is fading into history.
A beautifully made film, spectacular scenery. But it is the "forces of nature" including the character of the people that come through to make it it outstanding. A show of life and death challenges met straight on, with persistence, endurance, unity...as much as I hope their lives will become easier, I can't help but resent the value that will inevitably be lost.
