Awesomely funny. The editing was fantastic as well. one of the first movies I've really liked on Fandor.
wish they were my neighbours
A mellifluous repartee and daily summer soirees with fruit vodka infusions, champagne cocktails ... beautiful New Orleans interiors, puns and wit, lush green floral gardens. (Except then there was snow in the end, so I don't know where this was). I concluded the adults were so boring because they drank too much, but Curtis eventually figures out what's going on, and comes into his own. I would've much rather just been there, than watch...
Facinating story of a totally unorthadox group of friends, family and neighbors in a totally off-beat neighborhood. Characters are so real it seems like a doccumentry. Just a wonderful "trip" with totally free spirits and the growth of a painfully shy young man. Great fun!
A funny and relaxing movie. The neighborhood where the story is happening is very nice, the photography captures that well and and helps build the story. The characters are very interesting.
an easy movie that you can sit down and relax with . Interesting, quirky characters.
Would really give it 3 1/2 stars, but unable to.
A feet up, relaxing, enjoyable, funny movie almost reminescent of a 30's screwball comedy.
Laura Colella's film moves along like effortless cinematic magic. A well told story inhabited with perfectly cast actors. Aside from the fact that it is very entertaining, "Breakfast With Curtis" only looks simple. This is a meticulously well made film. I'm only sad that it has taken me so long to "discover" it.
What an unexpected surprise. A real delight of an independent film with heart and humor and fantastic performances. There's nothing earth-shattering going on here, but the small day-to-day interactions and relationships of the housemates and neighbors was interesting and fun. I recommend watching it, at least once.
maybe a 5 _really super cool & funny_i wasn't to sure in the beginning it was just odd so i kept watching everyone is a joy_specially Curtis & it's all so trippy _i'm ready to hop into this summer & have a blast_visual love
The new America...people living simple, appreciative lives. Fun, funny, delightful.
I watch this movie every year, around early Spring when the weather isn't quite cooperating yet, but it's right on the cusp. The summery feelings this movie evokes keeps me coming back year after year to get stirred up for the months ahead. I also find comfort in the communal living in the city aspect. This sense of community is something I've never had, and I doubt I ever will, but I've always dreamed of having friends that live close by, that I would see every day and share everyday moments with, along with more momentous occasions. I'm jealous of the residents of this multi-family victorian house. This is a great example of how a movie with just one setting could work so beautifully. I also think this is such a creative use of whatever resources you have access to. She had the house, she had the characters who already lived there- Laura Colella did a beautiful job of making something beautiful out of the things she had right at her fingertips. I just wish Syd was drinking Rose instead of red wine in that hot New England Summer!
Just a joy to watch... Funny, inventive and artistic all at the same time. The story is simple to allow the idiosyncrasies of the characters to shine. Very very good...
full disclosure; i probably didn't watch half this movie. it was too indie for me. like, if an indie movie hooked up with another indie movie and they had a baby indie movie, this would be that movie. the cast is uneven and a lot of the dialogue and performances seem more suited for the stage than film. and, honestly, i just didn't care what happened to anyone. still, the characters are kind of engaging and the film has a lushly cluttered look to it that i like. so personally i'd have a hard time recommending this but it's got a 78/64 rating on rotten tomatoes so, what do i know?
Tenderhearted, and quirky with a very good choice of soundtracks, gorgeous summer garden...and the antics which remind me of carefree days. Enjoyable characters.
I wish there were more films in this genre: quirky. And each character fully drawn. I used to live with people like this in my hippy days and miss that familial time.
Loved it!
Unexpected excellence! Multi-generation hippos! After all, it may be the best chance we have........... They even gave cast credits to the cats (and had a Master of Reality).
Hilarious film. Cast is sublime. You will be glad you watched. Nothing happens. It's just a whole lot of fun.
