One of my favorite documentaries in the past few years. "Cropsey" is one of the saddest, scariest, most heartbreaking stories I have heard. It comes as no surprise that this is the documentary I have made many people watch, and with each viewing, the story becomes more and more riveting to me. Very nicely done.

Chilling, honest, and entrancing. We rarely see the knots of urban legends unravelled in this way, and of course, the reality is more frightening, more uncertain, and more sobering than the fiction. Perhaps this is why we so often favor the fantasy over the truth.

It's an intriguing peek into a disturbing curiosity, but I couldn't help feeling like I wasn't getting the whole story. Or worse than that, I thought maybe I was getting more than the whole story. I think Cropsey had plenty of potential (maybe even as narrative) but was muddied up by amateur documentarians.

Powerful documentary. Horrific to watch at times. I remember reading about Rand back in the 80's. This brought back all the terrible memories of what these poor children must have gone through. Strong film.

This film is a mess. It starts out somewhat strong and then begins to lose it. The main problem is the presentation of the facts, and how the filmmakers lead you down a road to thinking one thing, only to spring a piece of fact on you that discredits everything they had you thinking. I actually started feeling a little pissed the filmmakers don't seem to know the basic rules of documentary film making, or they set out to break the rules, (although that hardly seems the case), and fail. What makes it all the more frustrating is the fact that I know there is a good film that could of been made - had they just let the story unfold in a more organic way.
