Hedy Lamarr's character (Madeleine Damien) is a "10" on the Universal Hot/Crazy Matrix. She is stunningly beautiful, has a dream job where they give her total creative freedom, has rich, good-looking men chasing her constantly, so of course, she is completely miserable. Dana McLendon may be correct after all.
This is an excellent film that keeps your attention throughout the entire picture. The star-studded cast brings to mind classic characters from movies and television both before and after this feature. The Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) plays a property manager and Lovey Howell is an assistant (with the same accent she used on Gilligan's Island). There are lots of great lead and character actors in the lineup.
Rich, successful, bored, party-girl Madeleine tries to live a more conventional lifestyle by changing her name and moving away from her influential friends. It doesn't take long for her to run into a nice, young, ambitious doctor and fall in love with him. She agrees to marry, but doesn't inform him about the past. Is she really ready to make a break or might this be a good chance for one last fling?
The "whole truth" is aired out in public (during the final act) for the dramatic courtroom scene.
There is a cheerful ending (on the runway of the airport no less) where Madeleine learns her lesson and changes for good, the young doctor forgives her unconditionally and holds no grudge, and they live in blissful happiness ever after. Wouldn't it be nice if real life were that uncomplicated?
