i like the girl can't stand the guy_he was horrible from the start
One of the morwe stranger movies we've ever seen. lots of wonderful old Art Nouveau architecture,; not much dialogue, but enough to bring you along to the ending, which was really strange and surprising.
This was an Adam and Eve parable in a classical, timeless Portugal. Succinct, and yet this was too thinly veiled a film, especially since the tempo was confident for its short length, its substance and luxe setting. I wanted to know more about the sources of Luisa's perversion, and why the young protagonist didn't see himself in her from the start. If he had, he may have chosen differently upon sussing her out.
Great film, I kept forgetting this was made in 2009 it's like a great classic 1940's piece. Would have liked to see a more elaborate ending,
"Eccentricities" is well worth watching for de Oliveira's characteristic gripping mood and the simultaneously stodgy and exotic Lisbon setting. On reflection, the abrupt ending does make some sense, although whether its abruptness is fair to the viewer after the genteel pace of the rest of the film is a valid question.
More de Oliveira!
Not only did she steal the ring , she stole an hour of my life. Bad ending!!
