Giving it 4 stars cause I always wanted to know more about the Circle Jerks and am a huge fan of the band, buuuuuuuuuut I am tired of the talking heads way of presenting material about early 80's hardcore.
It's great to see the spotlight on a classic LA punk band. Hopefully we see more documentaries on bands like The Plugz, The Brat, The Bags, The Dickies, etc. Usually LA is not given as much credit as it deserves for spawning some very influential bands. This city and others are usually overshadowed by overemphasis on the NY scene which no doubt is extremely important, but great things happen outside of NY too.
That movie was a sweet blast from the past with a nice follow through to where are they now. Worth watching, I'm a kid of this era, and there are days I miss its raw enthusiasm, this movie will help rekindle that emotion.
Good look at a seminal So Cal Punk/Hardcore band, replete with lurid tour stories, acrimony, loathing, nihilism, punk rock politicking, infighting, hyperbole, great footage, better music (mostly). Recommended.
