Good sampling of a 1960's late British Noir with some "beatnick" kids thrown in for fun. Janine Gray becomes involved in her boyfriend's caper involuntarily. Yes its another amnesia plot, but the story line seems fairly believable this time. The look you see on Gray's face is one of confusion and fear. Then a kind stranger offers her a way out. But you know the rules of Noir.
There is a plot twist toward the end that raised my rating from three stars to four.

A fun romp through a different time and different place. Early sixties British cops and gangsters make their menace with a totally different style. The lighting, camera shots, spare brassy soundtrack all blend in well together. I thought the script was decent for a little B Noir film, and the acting was not bad. The film could easily of have been titled "The Eyes" because Janine Gray's gigantic ones fill the screen in close-ups over and over again.
Not a bad bit of British late noir, wonderfully sleazy characters pop up one after another--almost a Dickensian touch. I watched the movie because I mistook the girl (Janine Gray) for a young Ida Lupino. She's not as good as Miss Lupino, but she conveyed a sense of perpetual confusion quite well. Maybe she wasn't acting. Over all, a nice little work. No classic, but I'd watch it a second time.
Pretty good.
It was just ok, lost it in the end, director seemed to not be paying much attention after the third quarter.
I GIVE THIS MOVIE 10 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I JUST LOVE MY BLACK & WHITE MOVIES.
