The first film by author Clive Barker, SALOME is a no-budget surrealist adaptation of Oscar Wilde's famous play, itself an adaptation of the Biblical last days of John the Baptist. Focusing mainly on mood over narrative (though viewers familiar with the story will at least recognize John, Herod, Salome and her Dance of the Seven Veils), this 8mm film was made by a twenty year old Barker and his friends (including HELLRAISER II screenwriter Peter Atkins and Doug "Pinhead" Bradley as Herod) in the manner of the underground films they admired by Andy Warhol and Kenneth Anger, hard to come by in their Liverpool hometown. - Tom Fritsche

The film was very interesting. I liked the special effects and the sadistic plot.

A bit too much drama for my taste

Kind of weird.
