It's the 21st century and society's lust for violence is satisfied by the "Big Hunt," an international game of legalized murder. But when the sport's two top assassins (Marcello Mastroianni and Ursula Andress) are pitted against each other, they find that love is the most dangerous game of all. As the world watches, the hunt is on. Who will become THE 10TH VICTIM?

The last time this film was screened before my eyes was about 20 years ago at the Case Western Reserve University's Science Fiction Film Marathon. It told us of a future where there were no wars and televised killing of individuals was common. At least, they foretold of Reality TV. Fun film.

Amazing 60s Pop Art set and costume design. Jaunty theme music by Piero Piccioni. and it stars Marcello Mastroianni and Ursula Andress. They don't make them like this any more and couldn't if they tried.

This movie is COOL! It secretes coolness in generous amounts from its very own cool gland. Time has softened some of the bite of the social satire, but what remains is a stylish comedy-adventure that perfectly captures a Euro-Mod aesthetic of 1965. It's Jet Set. It's Space Age. It's Pop Art. It's Mastroianni and Andress looking gorgeous, dangerous, and of course, above all, COOL!

Goofy fun with cartoonish violence where the line between stalking prey and pursuing romance is erased.

A little campy, a little sexy and lots of fun to watch! Like a Sci-fi 60s James Bond flick meets A Clockwork Orange. Based on a Robert Sheckley story, but here the 'Hunter' is the woman perusing the male 'Victim' for the Big Hunt. Leave to the Italians to turn it into a cat-and-mouse love story, with lots of stylish costumes and groovy music! Some good relevant social commentary about the nature of violence and even a reference to today's reality TV.

Robert Sheckley was fun to read in the late 60s and early 70s; he had a lot of great SF stories like "The Prize of Peril" which was about a reality game show where the contestants are hunted down by mobsters. In order to win, you had to survive for a week. I remember coming across "The Tenth Victim" one Saturday afternoon on TV in the 70s and being knocked out that Sheckley got one of his stories adapted. It's not bad, kind of a time capsule type of deal; swingin' Sixties a la Euro-chic. Marcello looks a little too old for this part (hence the blonde dye job), but Ursula compensates. Mildly diverting if don't take it too seriously.
