This small film slowly, quietly plays out a coming of age tale that will stay in your mind. I would like to see more films made like this. It is well acted, Silas Yelich as 11 year old Atticus carries his part very well. Beautiful locations. A great quiet night film or with the family...

After losing his mother, an intuitive eleven-year-old pushes through a web of trees and fallen leaves as he abandons the notion of co-dependence in favor of mud-caked self-preservation. Director Tom Gilroy tries his best to muscle out some David Gordon Green vibes, but ends up meandering in the fog of something too grandiose for his skill set.
A pleasant yet sad film to watch. It moves very slowly but with purpose; each scene has its part to play and is not wasted. A bit anticlimactic at times but still the message of happiness and what it means to a person is a constant theme throughout and helps carry the narrative at its sluggish points. With that said, this film's narrative is multilayered and the acting superb. I'm sure after watching this a second or third time new meanings will arise. Bravo!
