Melanie is a young woman whose ambitions as a concert pianist were dashed as a child by the thoughtless behavior of the jury chairwoman, the famous pianist Madame Fouchecourt, during her exam. Ten years later, Melanie sets up an elaborate plan for revenge and soon begins to ingratiate herself into the family. Unrecognized by Madame Fouchecourt, Melanie becomes her trusted "page turner" as both women prepare for the performance of a lifetime.

This is quite a good movie with a surprising ending. All I can say is that if you ever judge a piano playing contest, do not, I repeat, do not interrupt the performance to sign an autograph!

Beautiful, taut, elegant ...but also trite, silly, predictable and at the same time implausable. I stayed through to the end to see if it would redeem itself. It didn't.

This is a movie with superb acting, great story, great execution. The kind of movie that you can watch more then once and still appreciate.

Juicy suspense, and this one will keep you on your toes: it doesn't turn out the way you'd expect. A damaged ego of a child that never quite blossomed to prodigy, who harbors a well calculated, patient intent on revenge. This a very artful film, and it turns our sympathy from character to character as we see the one being destroyed turn into the one doing the destruction, and vice versa. It's also worth noting that the film focuses on women's power; apart from the supporting woman role of Ariane's friend and musician in the trio, the male characters are either put in place, or roles of victims, nurturers, silently being hurt -- in spite of Melanie's own loving father. Makes for an interesting psychoanalysis that could be another film.

Catherine Frot est brillante.

It starts out slowly, gets a bit more suspenseful. I found it predictable, and a bit implausible as well. Not a bad film, but, a bit depressing.

Wow what a movie...Surprise

Pretty bad in all respects, but especially the performances of the two actresses, flat and dull. But so was the writing, so what might they have done with a better script, who knows.
